Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
Wow, what a crazy month November is, with this past Presidential race. Now that it is over, we need to move forward as one.
Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Trunk or Treat. Whether it was decorating your car to pass out candy or bringing out the kids, it was a great turnout.
I also want to recognize all who donated candy, with a special thank you to Gloria Ulmer from FMC! She donated many bags of candy and we are all grateful for the extra. Other thanks go out to A&M Productions and DJ Services for volunteering their time and playing music during the event.
I loved all the different costumes! I saw dinosaurs, ghostbusters and beautiful little princesses. All the little smiles and even the big smiles from the adults made for a great event.
While I was sitting at my computer thinking about Thanksgiving and what to write, the same thing kept coming to mind. I have said this before and it is still true. I am thankful to be a part of this Union and just as thankful to be a part of this great Local.
We, as UAW Brothers and Sisters, need to stick together. We are family! Yes, families fight, but at the end of the day we are all on the same side. So, this holiday season, let us think first; be each other’s keeper, be kind, and offer respect to everyone. Together we are the UAW!
Happy Thanksgiving wishes to everyone! As we celebrate this special occasion, it is the perfect moment to share warm wishes and express our gratitude to friends, family, and co-workers. Enjoy your time and safe travels.
On Monday, November 4, 2024, Financial Secretary, Duane Ballard and I presented a check for over $7,000 to the Genesee County IGNITE Program. This donation was raised by attending a Pheasant Hunt on October 26, 2024. We had 34 shooters, and what a blast we all had. The laughs and ammo were definitely flying that day.
The Community Service Committee will hold a toy drive from December 2 through December 19, 2024. Look for the boxes inside each facility. If you have any questions please ask your committee member.
On December 8, 2024, our General Membership Meeting will be held at 1:00 pm. Please bring a new, unopened USA-made toy.
On December 13, 2024 the Old Newsboys of Flint is having their 100th Annual Paper Sale. Be watchful and keep an eye out for all the volunteers collecting donations at the many locations at interactions throughout Genesee County. They will be out from dawn to dusk.
The Old Newsboys of Flint provided Christmas gifts to 7,001 children in 2023 and 848,000 children since it’s inception. Once a child qualifies, he or she receives a sweatshirt, socks, underclothes, a hat, a warm pair of gloves, dental hygiene products, and a beautiful new age-appropriate gift.
The Recreation Committee will host “Picture with Santa” on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Snacks and refreshments are provided. So, grab the little ones and come say Hi to Santa.
Union Sportsman Alliance 2025 calendars are still available at the Union Hall. These will make great gifts.
Remember, no matter who you are or where you are from, we are all in this together!
