GMCCA Chairman Report

By: Tony Redmond

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

The Shop Committee congratulates Donny Grey on winning the recent District #2 election. Thank you to all the candidates who ran an immaculate and orderly campaign. Congratulations also to Jobe Ohmer, Alternate Health and Safety Representative/IH. Good luck to all in the future.

Sub-Councils – The UAW General Motors National Council and Sub-Council will be held August 24-28, 2025. These meetings discuss contractual issues, contract administration, and recommendations for the National Council and Sub-Council. The Shop Committee will be at the Skilled/Production Sub-Council. Many issues and common problems related to CCA Flint will be discussed.

Numerous Employees have been disciplined for violating Shop Rule #9 (L.A.) and Document #8. The Shop Committee would like to remind everyone to call in at least thirty minutes before their start time when needed.

Many of our Members receive Paragraph 64B, 64C, and 111B letters. UAW Members on sick leave are discharged for not completing all the paperwork correctly or on time. They will not find out until the insurance has stopped. One sign is when your sick leave pay has stopped. Stay on top of your emails and text messages from Sedgwick.

Please remember our Annual GMCCA Old Newsboys Golf Scramble will take place Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Briar Ridge Golf Course, 11099 Dodge Road, Montrose, MI 48457. Many raffle prizes will be available. Don’t forget that all the money goes to Old Newsboys to help all the children have a toy for Christmas.

I’m looking forward to seeing the retirees, even my Big Brother Perry, who hit the front window of our cart with the golf ball when I was parked behind him.

Welcome and Congratulations to Jason VanBocxlaer, our new UAW International Servicing Rep. We look forward to working with you.

Brother Scott T. Henry, on behalf of the CCA Executive Board, Shop Committee, and CCA Membership, we congratulate you on your retirement and express our sincere gratitude for your time as our UAW International Servicing Representative, Region 1-D. Thank you so very much! Also, thank you for attending our meetings and bringing your knowledge, passion, dedication and care to our Membership. You were a great asset to the UAW and will be missed. Best wishes on your next endeavor!

After every email, Scott always ends with… “Without true job security, everything else is a temporary gain!”
