Financial Secretary’s Article

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

I hope everyone had a great summer, because fall is here. Fall officially started on September 22, at 2:19 p.m. It really seems that summer flies by lately. This summer has been a busy one to say the least, and next year doesn’t seem like it will be any better.

Next year, we will surely have a lot going on with our General Elections, Constitution Convention Election, as well as our International Elections at the end of the year. Next year will also be a tight year financially at the Local. With the General Election and Constitutional Elections comes a hefty bill with the costs of running them.

We, as a membership, will have to be mindful of our budget next year to offset all the expenses we will incur through the elections and the convention.

Please continue to check your check stubs to make sure your pay and deductions are coming out correctly. I have had a rash of problems with members’ dues not coming out and a lot of those members have noticed that these dues were not taken. Please make sure if the dues are not coming out to contact me here at the Union Hall, so we can get it rectified.

Halloween is right around the corner and again this year the Recreation Committee is doing a Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 26th, here in the Union Hall parking lot. Bring your spooky car and hand out some goodies to all the ghosts and goblins. If you are unable to attend, the hall is also taking candy donations to hand out that day.

Fall is probably my favorite time of the year. The weather is just about perfect and you can see the change and the smell of it in the air. I do a lot of hunting in the fall, but you don’t need to be a hunter to enjoy the fall.

It is a perfect time to get a kid out of that classroom they are sitting in again and let them breathe some fresh air. Take a walk, collect leaves, and just enjoy the fall colors. Get a child outdoors and let them smell the change in the air, before it gets too cold.
