Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
March is Women’s History Month. This month, we recognize the strength, leadership, and determination of the women who have helped build our Union and continue to fight for fairness, dignity, and respect on the job. Women in the UAW have played a vital role in organizing workplaces, standing up for workers’ rights, and paving the way for future generations.
We honor the women who came before us, the women leading today, and the young women who will carry the labor movement forward. Your voices, courage and solidarity make our Union stronger every day. When women stand strong, our Union stands stronger.
The Shop Committee would like to give a big shout-out to Rebecca ‘O’. for qualifying for an Apprentice position. Congratulations on your accomplishment and best of luck moving forward!
The Shop Committee would like to remind our Brothers and Sisters that Local Negotiations were scheduled to resume on February 24, 2026; however, that date was missed.
It has come to our attention that management is claiming in documentation that UAW members are providing them with information about other members. We want to address this directly. We do not believe these statements are truthful. Unfortunately, these types of tactics are often used when negotiations begin in an attempt to create distrust and division among the membership.
Statements suggesting that members are “telling on each other” only serve one purpose – to weaken solidarity. As a Union, our strength comes from standing together and supporting one another. We encourage all members not to allow these claims to divide us. If you have questions or concerns, please bring them to your Union Representatives so they can be addressed properly.
Now more than ever, it is important that we remain united, support each other, and stay focused as we move toward negotiations.
We must also be mindful that heightened scrutiny could result in increased write-ups for minor issues. We must protect ourselves by following procedures, remaining professional at all times, and looking out for one another.
The Shop Committee also wants to congratulate everyone for their hard work, dedication, craftsmanship, and skills. Your efforts continue to generate profits for General Motors Company. Never forget the value you bring.
Please keep the nurses and caseworkers at Genesys Hospital in your prayers. Their strike has now lasted more than six months.
If you have time, please stop by the picket line to show your support and see if there is anything they may need. Standing together in solidarity matters.
UAW Local 659 Easter Party
The UAW Local 659 Easter Party will be held on March 29, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 2:30 pm. There will be pictures, snacks, and movies for everyone to enjoy.
If you would like to donate candy, you can drop it off at the Union Hall or give it to a Shop Committee Member.
The UAW has negotiated Good Friday, April 3, 2026 and the Day After Easter, April 6, 2026, as paid holidays.
We encourage all members to plan accordingly and enjoy the time with their families. These are benefits that were secured through collective bargaining and the strength of our Union.
Stand up, stay united, and do not fall for attempts to divide us.
