Hello Brothers and Sisters,
This month’s article will be fairly short. There is not a lot to report, as far as workload or manpower.
The big subject to report about is the Special Attrition Program (SAP) dates. By now, everyone who signed up for the SAP has gotten their dates emailed.
First, I’d like to say holding everyone back till the last day is ridiculous! Our local management had full intentions of honoring the dates that were requested by our members. They were notified about a week before that the dates would be picked at the corporate level, taking all flexibility out of the local managements control.
With that being said, 44 people in our facility will have to make some decisions between not and when they had planned on retiring.
I’m sure the immediate reaction is to leave ASAP, and I can understand that. But, if you were planning on leaving April of ’27, for example, you can definitely take a few breaths of fresh air and make a decision after some of the anger has subsided.
I’m not sure if anything can be done about these dates other than say “this just sucks.”
With that, I don’t have much else to report. Except, Unit meetings and Joint Council meetings start back up on Sunday, September 13th, and I would love to see as many people as we can fit in the room attend.
That is all for now.
