Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

Well, another summer is done, and the kids are back in school. I hope everyone had a great Labor Day and enjoyed the wonderful weather we had.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Throughout the month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote suicide prevention awareness.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 24/7 for free and confidential support.

NAETC/UAW Local 659 held its Old Newsboys golf outing on Saturday, September 6th. This was the 25th Anniversary of this event. The event raised over $24,000 for the kids this year. Huge shout-out to Sam Vowell and his team for putting together another great event.

Join the Community Service Committee to walk in the 2025 Swartz Creek Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 26, 2025. Line-up starts at 4:00 p.m. at Swartz Creek Middle School, and the parade starts at 5:00 p.m. Bring some candy and show the community some UAW Solidarity.

The Recreation Committee will be joining up with the Women’s Committee and Community Service Committee this year to host our Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Local 659.

This event is always a great time with a huge turnout, so mark your calendars. We will be taking candy donations here at the Union Hall, or you can reach out to your committee member from your specific unit.

I know many of our members have asked about the nurses currently out on strike and whether we are doing anything to support them. As I write this, a few of us have already walked the lines, and several of our members have joined in as well.

We’ve also been in touch with our contacts, so we know when specific needs come up. Recently, they asked for hand warmers and hand sanitizer, which we were able to deliver directly to the picket lines.

Union Sportsmen’s Alliance 2026 calendars are available at the Union Hall for #30. They offer a 2-gun-a-week sweepstakes. These make great gifts, but quantity is limited, so get them while they last. They always sell out, so don’t wait.

Remember, no matter who you are or where you are from, we are all in this together!
