Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
I hope everyone had a great Easter and enjoyed their time off.
The last few years, the weather has played havoc on our Easter egg hunt. Again, this year, besides it being a little wet in the field, we decided to have it outside anyway. Wow, what a turnout!
Instead of a few different Easter eggs hunts, we did one hunt, and it was awesome. The volunteers we had did a wonderful job in ensuring the kids had a great time. The special treat this year was Easter punch. I believe there was sherbert in the punch, with the kids adding whipped cream and sprinkles on top. The Union Label Committee also set up a table with some displays of union-made products and fliers.
I want to give a special thank you to the Easter Bunny. I saw lots of smiles, a lot of candy, and some awesome photos by Luke Stearns, who did a great job as always.
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11th. This is a special day when we can recognize all mothers for their positive contributions to their families and society. Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and all of the other mothers out there. Have a great day!
On Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., UAW Local 659 will host the Third Annual “Get Youth Outdoors Day” at the Flint Bluegill Boat Launch. This is a free kid’s event that includes fishing, a BB gun trailer, field dog training, and many other exciting activities. All the participants must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Registration is not required this year.
This May’s Union meetings were rescheduled and moved up a week because of Mother’s Day. All meetings will be held on May 4, 2025.
Last month I talked about building a pavilion from the funds raised from our Conservation Dinner. With that being said, Saturday, May 10, starting around 7 a.m. at Blue Gill Landing, we will be looking for volunteers to help build the pavilion. If you can help out, even for a few hours, please get in touch with Duane at 810-232-4130, ext. 216.
You may have noticed our digital sign out front is not working. During the last storm, it went out. We are getting the problem diagnosed, and hopefully it will be up and running shortly.
Remember, no matter who you are or where you are from, we are all in this together!
