Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
I hope this message finds you all in good health.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the loss of our Union brother Shawn “Chi-Town” McGee, who passed away March 19, 2026. Shawn was known by many and was truly liked by everyone. He meant a great deal to the workplace and to his 659 Local. His dedication, hard work, and presence for over 17 years will never be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed.
Thanks to all for the support, care, and love expressed to the family during this difficult time. It’s a reminder that we are more than co-workers. We are family.
As we move forward navigating through the year, let’s continue to stay focused on our same contractual common goals – maintaining a safe workplace, delivering quality work with excellence, and shoot for higher standards to protect our jobs and strengthen our contract.
New bid jobs took place on April 7th. Many members had the opportunity to remain in familiar roles, while others took on new positions. Proper training is very important and must be provided with adequate time to learn the new assignment. If you experience any difficulties, please report to a supervisor or make your district UAW supervisor or make your district UAW representative aware of the situation.
I encourage everyone to continue making an effort to attend the monthly Unit membership meetings and Joint Council meetings. We would like to see you there. Thanks again for your time and patience.
Solidarity Forever.
