Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

When I said it was going to be a busy year, I was not kidding. This will be one of the shortest articles I have written. I am just going to hit on some major things coming up and then move on.

Election Season

Election season is here and I want to remind people to do their homework and research the candidates. Elect the ones who have the membership in their best interest. Elect the ones who you feel are your best choice. Your district elections are also important, so make sure you are getting out and voting.

Con-Con Delegate Election

UAW Constitutional Convention Delegate Elections are also coming up, May 7th, here at the Union Hall. These delegates are the ones representing you at the Constitutional Convention and will be your voice and your vote. Make sure you also take time out to vote then.

Check your Pay Stubs

Make sure you are checking your check stubs for correct deductions and that dues are coming out. During sign-ups, I ran into a few situations where people’s dues were not taken out and they had to pay to catch up and run.

Tiger Baseball Game

I know that a Tiger game is in the works, so please be on the lookout in this Searchlight for the flyer. The Recreation Committee does a fabulous job putting on this event. You don’t want to miss it.

Happy Mother’s Day

I want to wish all the Mothers out there a Happy Mothers Day! My mother passed in 2012, and I truly miss her a lot. Never take for granted the time we have with our mothers.

Spring has Arrived

Spring seems to finally have sprung. After 6 months and 10 pounds of winter, I am so ready for it. Right now, the rain and storms have started and I see the flowers blooming and the grass growing. All these equations produce a great scenario to get a child outside and let them burn some energy and get them off the phones. Let them help rake those flower beds and maybe take them for a walk in the woods to find some morels. A lot of new growth will instigate a lot of new questions. Get a child outdoors and let them enjoy spring.
