Greetings Brothers & Sisters,
September is here. The days are getting shorter and the mornings are getting cooler, as we transition from summer to fall.
The Shop Committee would like to welcome you back from summer break. We hope you had a great summer and had a chance to make memories with family and friends.
September is Suicide Awareness Month. If you or a coworker you know are struggling with personal issues, please talk to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Rep. They can put you in touch with free counselors and behavioral support services.
In the last few months, our plant has had a couple accidents where members have had serious injuries. With over 300 pieces of mobile equipment in the building, it is important for us all to slow down and be aware of our surroundings.
I personally know how frustrating it is waiting behind those Sea grids and the urge to pass them is real. However, safety has instructed us that doing so is not allowed. So please just wait.
With the increase of accidents here and other facilities, look for management to increase the discipline of safety violations, like earbuds, and cell phone usage.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Women’s Committee will again have several events and activities scheduled, including pink shirt Thursdays, in which those who participate will be entered into a weekly drawing to win gift cards. They will also have a bake sale, and a few other activities to raise awareness.
On October 4th, we have our charity golf outing to help raise money for Old Newsboys of Flint. If you haven’t already, please get a team together and join us. Sponsorships are also available. For more information, see brother Deonte Stephen.
