Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
I’d like to start today by first saying Thank you! Thank you so much for believing in me and for choosing me to represent you. I am so excited for this journey. My door will always be open and I can’t wait to serve this great membership as your Recording Secretary. If you see me in the plant, or at the hall, please feel free to approach me. I’ll be glad to help. That being said, here goes nothing… my first article.
July is the peak of summer and it sure has brought us some heat, with heat waves and temps reaching 100 degrees in some areas. It gives us a better understanding of the word sweltering.
Temps inside the plant will reach way over the temps outside, so please make sure you are going into work prepared. Drink lots of water, know where the cool-down spots can be found, and look out for your Union siblings. Signs of heat stroke can be, but not limited to, confusion, slurred speech, weakness, and dizziness.
Some other fun facts about July…it’s National Ice Cream Month. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! I plan to enjoy some often this month with all of my grandbabies.
July’s birthstone is the ruby, and July’s flower is either the larkspur or the water lily. July is also known for America’s Birthday. The 4th of July 2026 was a historic event all over America, as we celebrated our 250th year. My family enjoyed every second of our celebration and I sincerely hope you enjoyed yours as well.
One more month to play, then the kids will all be heading back to school. I know some parents are counting those days down. Keep a lookout for upcoming school supply rallies and backpack drives as well. There are lots of resources in Genessee County to help children in need. If you find yourself or a friend in need, feel free to give me a call. I’ll do my very best to help in any way possible.
The UAW Local 659 Community Service Committee has adopted a carpool lot on Miller Rd. at I-69 in Swartz Creek. They will be cleaning and upkeeping the grounds twice a year. Look for our sign out front.
Be fearless in pursuing your dreams, even if they seem impossible!
