UAW Local 659 members and their families, get ready for an unforgettable day of baseball, fellowship, and fun as the Detroit Tigers take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at beautiful Comerica Park on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

For only $115 per person, the full package includes a game ticket, a $20 food voucher, and round-trip bus transportation. The buses will depart from UAW Local 659 at 10:00 am.

For those who would like to attend, but prefer to drive themselves, we also have a $75 option, which includes the game ticket and $20 food voucher. Those purchasing the $75 option will be responsible for their own transportation.

Remember, this trip is not just for UAW Members! We want everyone who would like to join us to come out. Bring your family, friends, brothers, sisters, and anyone who wants to enjoy a great day at the ballpark.

International Officer Election

The 2026 UAW International Officer Election is coming up, and you should receive your ballot by the end of August.

To make sure your vote is counted, your mail-in ballot must be received by the beginning of October. We strongly encourage everyone to complete and return your ballot by the end of September to allow enough time for delivery and processing.

I was able to spend time with our Veterans and Retirees on two different occasions, and it was truly a great experience. Hearing their stories, learning about their experiences, and understanding the sacrifices and contributions they made gave me an even greater appreciation for the people who came before us and helped build the foundation we stand on today.

Labor Day Celebration

Labor Day is Monday, September 7, 2026, and it is a UAW-negotiated holiday.

This Labor Day, I encourage our UAW Local 659 family to take a moment to remember where our movement came from and the sacrifices that were made to build the labor rights we have today.

UAW Region 1D’s Flint Office, located at 1940 W. Atherton Road, will host a short historical program and tribute honoring the 1936-1937 Flint Sit-Downers and the courageous members of the Women’s Emergency Brigade.

Before the program, there will be a Labor Day Parade beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Bristol Road Church of Christ and ending at UAW Region 1D.

The Flint Sit-Down Strike was a defining moment in the history of the UAW and the American labor movement. The men and women who stood together during those historic struggles understood that solidarity, courage, and standing together were necessary to secure a better future for working families.

As UAW members today, we have a responsibility to remember that history, honor those who came before us, and continue standing together for the next generation of workers.

Trunk or Treat

Get ready for some Halloween fun! UAW Local 659’s Trunk or Treat will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at UAW Local 659.

The entire community is welcome! Bring your family, bring the kids, and come out for an afternoon of fun, fellowship, and Halloween spirit.

We also need our members to bring out their decorated vehicles and help make this year’s Trunk or Treat a great event for our children and families. Get creative and decorate your trunk, truck, car, or SUV!

Candy Drive

Can’t make it up still want to help? We gladly accept candy donations. You can drop candy off at the Union Hall or at your plant with a member of the Recreation Committee, Women’s Committee, or Community Service Committee.

Let’s come together as a Union and make sure our kids and the community have a safe, fun, and memorable Halloween!

Bring your vehicle. Bring some candy. Bring your family. Let’s make Trunk or Treat 2026 a great one.

Back-to-School Safety

It’s that time of year again – our children are heading back to school. Please slow down and pay extra attention in school zones, around school buses, and anywhere children are present.

Remember: Behind every rolling ball is a running child. Put the phone down. Stay alert. Slow down. Give our children the extra attention they deserve.

Let’s all do our part to make sure every children makes it home safely.
