From the Officers and Staff of UAW Local 659

We hope that everyone will enjoy their UAW-negotiated Holiday paid time off. Unfortunately, many of you will be laid-off well into January, due to Management decisions. There is a small upside – Michigan Unemployment Insurance (UIA) increased this year to $446 per week and will increase again on January 1, 2026 to a maximum benefit of $530 per week. We hope that this increased UIA benefit will make it a bit more tolerable. The increase was made possible due to a Labor-friendly Michigan Legislature back in 2023 and signed into law by Governor Whitmer.

UAW Local 659 continues to support The Old Newsboys of Flint Christmas Program by collecting unwrapped toys to ensure “No Child is Forgotten” during the Holiday season. Our last day of collecting donations at Local 659 will be Tuesday, December 23. We want to express our gratitude to everyone who helped sell papers, bought a paper, bought a button, or made a donation. Throughout the year, our members donate to ONB to make sure local kids are taken care of. Your generosity is recognized by us and we thank you for your support!

We wish you and your family a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year. Here’s to a safe and relaxing holiday season!
